South Canal TT Series Rollin’

2008 Reservoir Dogs time trial course moved to South Canal

Be among the first riders to preview the September 12th Folsom Cyclebration ITT Course!

What: Weekly time trial series held over 6 consecutive Wednesdays. This year’s course is 10 miles out and back with 2 sets of short steep hills each way! We start at the White Rock Rd entrance and ride south. The sharp turnaround (u-turn) is just before Jackson Hwy 16 gate. The road is closed to cars other than a rare maintenance vehicle.

Why: Goal is to have fun, meet other riders and promote fitness and friendly competition.

Who: Cyclists and triathletes of all and abilities. (This is not for racers only!)

When: Wednesdays. Begins on July 23rd. Ends on August 27th. First rider off at 6:45 pm. Last rider off at 7:30 pm.

Where: On the Folsom South Canal, technically in Rancho Cordova. Park near the White Rock Rd and Kilgore Rd intersection. Ride east on White Rock Rd toward Sunrise Blvd. and enter canal on right side of road. The Time Trial start is approximately 1 mile down the canal from the White Rock entrance.

How: Warm up in the business park or the North Canal. There will be no warm-up or cool down on the course. When you enter the gate to the Canal and go to the start line, you need to be ready to ride. You will sign a release form, pay a $5 entry fee and sign in with the starter by providing your name and email address, and receive a starting order number. Riders will start in 1 minute intervals except on nights with a large turnout (30 second intervals).

Rules: No drafting. Pass caught riders on the left (say “on your left” as you prepare to pass). Slower riders keep to the right side of the course. Please obey centerline rules. The course is narrow and you need to keep your head up to watch for riders heading the opposite direction. Please yell your number as you finish so we can record your finishing time accurately. Ride down the Canal when you are done to cool down or chat with friends. Stay clear of the finishing area. Finishing times will not be given out the night of the race. They will be e-mailed to in spreadsheet form in the following couple days and posted to the cycling-training.com website. Minors need to have a release form signed by a parent or guardian prior to their first race. Helmets are mandatory. Bring your own water. Have fun, go fast and be safe! Be courteous to other riders and to the cars in the RC!

Prizes/Food: The $5 entry fee will go toward small prize list and free picnic dinner after the last race (dinner is open to riders who attend 3 or more races). Prizes will be distributed at the August 27th party.

Questions: E-mail Dirk Manley at abruzzobiker@gmail.com or call Cycling-Training.com at 966-8238.
